Les enfants autour d’une mosquée

As I was walking up a mountain in the Rif Mountains of Morocco, these children approached me. Friendly and playful, the eldest of the group, a protective Qawtar, prodded me as I filmed. These kids thought I was Moroccan, then Algerian, then Egyptian–I resisted answering their questions with any precision and got them to present themselves to me first. In the final moments of the film, Qawtar apologizes for her taunts and friendships are sealed.
